Museum of Water and Madriu

The Hotel and Spa Carlemany is monumental in a culture dedicated to the water, with special attention on the confluence of the rivers Valira and Madriu. Highlights three different attractions: Walk among bridges, the Bridge-Plaza and Bridge-Building, linked to each other and forming part of the landscape.

Walk among bridges
We found a wide pedestrian promenade of 4-5 meters wide on the left side and in communication with the ride on the right bank of the river Valira. Spaces or recreational and terraces to restore to enjoy all year.
The promenade that runs along the left bank of the river from the bridge to the Plaza Engordany Madriu in the area of Plaça dels Safaretjos and using the slope of the Peninsular Avenue, unfolds to form a platform that allows access to the building- bridge, where we find the services and infrastructure needed to operate the building.
Lightweight structures formed by metal and wooden floor resting on the ride, and glass railings to visualize all the wide boulevard.

Bridge-Plaza
A play area on the river where there are different games and effects of water and light in its different states. Privileged point of view of the river and the activities generated in the bridge-building, and this is a privileged point of entertainment in Andorra.

It is a platform surface of 180 m2 on the river, with access from both walks and the “Safaretjos Plaza”, with a set of technological effects that generate water recreational activities. At one point we found a passable water depth of about 2 cm in thickness allowed to walk and play on it. At another point we are surprised when the water level disappears and turns into a vapor space generated by a set of fog spread throughout the environment.
In addition to these two effects we find the effects of all scattered around the square LEDs, combined with the movement of water and steam.

Bridge-Building
This equipment is the 'gift box' of the entire set, which contains many of the 'surprises' both recreational and water-related cultural and Madriu Valley.

It's like a splash of water, a flower that springs from the “Roc del Metge” and flying on Carlemany Avenue and the river, which is dematerialized in a cascade of water.

The building, formally, is a bridge resting on the “Roc del Metge” and feet in the form of branches that connect with the roots of the foundation and infrastructure that feed it.
Access is from an open staircase that wraps around the elevator glass prism and from where they are from different levels, spaces that are generated around the square and the river. The pavement of the stair materially melts the surface it comes in contact, so that it starts with the wooden floor of the platform and is transformed into glass as it reaches the building. The equipment is like a container with a structure formed by two steel trusses that support it and both are part of the internal level, showing the full extent and creating three distinct spaces: a central space between the trapezoidal trusses, and two side bays of various sizes between the trusses or and the building's skin.

Inside the 'box' game uses the organic movements of the ceiling to create a special space in which feelings play an important role, and working with the different activities organized. The skin of the building is a transparency that allows full communication between the interior and exterior. It's like a curtain wall of high quality, glass streaked with different shades and produce an effect so that organic and water. The pattern of the grooves corresponds to the creation of the curves generated by mathematical application of musical notes, their value and the time of the musical piece 'Bridge over Troubled Water "by Simon & Garfunkel. The building has air conditioning art facilities , lighting and technology systems that incorporate unique actions and effects. The roof and floor technical registrable allow maximum technical potential to produce all kinds of dynamic activities over time.

The ends of the building shows its genesis both in support of the “Roc del Metge”, where the rock enters the interior of the building, on the river side, where transparency is maximized through a transparent glass volume walk-through which see the mountain and the terraced gardens filtered by the sheet of water flowing from the roof of the building toward the river. Externally, the 'box' also becomes 'screen' projection, so that the skin emits light through a set of LEDs embedded in the curtain wall profiles and used to project images from strategic points outside.
The waterfall serves as a projection screen of different images and recordings / movies that show in a fun full range of activities generated in the interior.
